The COACH-BOT methodology represents a pedagogical model of adult distance education based of the combination of the conversational agent technology and the modular e-course delivered through the platform. This training model represents the main project result and it includes an e-learning system able to interface individually in a human-like way with learners and to customize the learning process according to the their needs. The COACH-BOT methodology will imply the development of the following main products.

-         interview the student by defining her/his knowledge and goals. Than, the CBR (Case-based reasoning) system - process of solving new problems based on the solutions of similar past problems - will use these information to find the best learning path that will be illustrated and discussed with the student.

-         dialogue with the student on the technical problems that may arise;

-         dialogue on the methodological aspects of the course and provide motivational feedback to the student;

-         supply the students with contents like:

showing of slides and discusses on them;

virtual storytelling that narrates content-relevant stories in an interactive way;

dialoguing simulation (simulation learning game).

The COACH-BOT e-learning platform will include a modular training path on medical/psychological issues, national/EU health laws, social/ethical aspects of medical home care assistance. Into the Experimental Section of the platform the learners, supported by the Virtual Coach, will have the opportunity to follow different training contents according to his/her specific profile and needs. The Virtual Coach will assist them providing help and suggestions on the lessons, in-depth information, assessment, dialoguing lessons chatting on contents, case studies through the storytelling approach, role playing game, technical support. The Control Section of the platform includes the same modular course contents but without the Virtual Coach support.
